Project Life Week 6

Welcome everyone !

I have to say how happy I am to be back in my Project Life album today. Currently I am a few weeks behind due to life being busy, being sick, and then some fun mini vacations.

This week is going to be week 6. The very first part of February. I currently subscribe to Ali Edwards Story Kit and I love them so much. I usually will set aside a week or two in my PL album to use the kit supplies.

So let's get started. Here is what the whole spread looks like.

Each one of Ali's kits come with a card with a quote on it. I decided to use this months card for my title card. I loved the saying so much and thought it was perfect to use it in my PL album. I added my dates to a label stickers using my date stamp.

One afternoon Maddie wanted to make Orange Juice all by herself. So she looked up a recipe online and squeezed a bunch of oranges. I snapped a few fun photos of her.

You all know that I am a sucker for my kids handwriting and want to add more of it into my album. I cut up Noah's spelling test and added it into my album. I recently inherited my Grandmother's typewriter. We are still trying to get along but I used it to type on his spelling test. After I had typed on the card I added the word ten. This week was all about documenting the numbers. He has ten spelling words every week and so instead of using the number 10 I spelled it out.

These two crack me up so often !! They had played out in the rain one afternoon and were soaked from head to toe. They asked to get their swimsuits and play in the tub together. Of course swim goggles are a must. I added a digital brush from Kellie Stamps. Oh and I added the number 2 to the photo.

This first photo is of one of the kids while we were playing night games on Monday. We each took turns hiding their favorite stuffed animals in the dark while the others go find them armed with flashlights.

The next journaling card is one from the Number kit, actually all the cards this week are from the Numbers Kit. I added a list of tidbits to a photo and then added it onto this blue card.

Moving onto the right side now. This first orange colored card talks about Maddie and her making Orange Juice. I added a gold clear sticker and then add the letters OJ.

The circle numbers card was one of my favorites from the kit. I loved it and cut it in half so that I could add it in a 3x4 slot. I took one of the chipboard numbers and added it in the middle of one of the circles. I went with the number 5 because there are 5 of us. I added the word US onto a label and added a star.

This particular week Patrick was busy sanding and cutting some wood to make Katelyn a loft style bed. I borrowed his plans that he had made on some graph paper and scanned it. Then I cropped it down and added some journaling before printing. I added the chipboard triangle onto the paper and called it done.

Spring is coming and I could not be more excited about it. I snapped a photo of a blooming tree at the park that week and added some digital words and a brush.

That particular week was the most rain we had seen in a LONG while. It seemed like it rained all week. I made sure to remember how many full rainy days we had so that I could document it. It turned out that we had 4 full rainy days. I took this photo while I was dropping off the kids at the bus stop. I was at the bus stop a lot that week due to the rain. Our house is not super close to the bus stop.

I used this big white 4 onto my photo and added some journaling underneath.

This math equation card was perfect to journal about how many boards it takes to make a bed.

Project Life Week 1

Hello everyone !

Even though I am not finished with my 2016 album I have decided to move on to 2017. Yay !! I can't wait to work on it some more.

Typically I have skipped right over the title page for my Project Life albums. Not this year though, I was so inspired by everyone's pages that I wanted to make my own. So I got busy and kept it simple.

Let's take a look at my title page.

As I mentioned above, I kept it simple and went with a color scheme that I loved. This awesome acrylic piece was available from Color Cast Designs. I believe that she is out of stock already but you never know. You can check out her shop at Color Cast Designs.com

I felt like this card needed some color so that you could see the 2017 better. I traced the O and cut out some patterned paper to go underneath.

Let's move on to my week 1 shall we. Here is what the whole thing looks like.

Looking back over it now I can see how the left side is more busy/heavy than the right side is. I think I got all excited to do some PL that I put to many things on with some busy photos. Anywhos, maybe I'm just crazy. In the end I am happy with my first week. I told some great stories and documented some fun times in our lives.

Let's start with the title card. I really love these white rubber pieces that come in my Studio Calico kits every month. This time I decided to cut off most of the word and only use the JAN. I used that gold star and a scrap piece of patterned paper underneath the rubber piece. After I had everything on the title card I added that small pink heart for a tiny bit of color.

I am not quite sure what was happening with my printer on a few of these cards but I am going with it and not worrying about it at all. This first journaling card talks about the kids Promise Pets and how they held a training academy with them for a few days. I added a few P's for Promise Pets and a few simple embellishments. The photo next to is of my mom's rouladen that she made us. It was soooo good. I added that circle piece with a stamped heart on it as well as that cork piece.

This week my parents were here for a visit. While we were out shopping I snapped a selfie in front of a mirror at Hobby Lobby. The next card holds another acrylic piece from Color Cast Designs. I added a strip of washi underneath the piece for a pop of color.

This photo is one that I took while the kids were playing PP Training Academy. I added a stamp along my wood wall in the photo as well as a few embellishments on the other side. Isn't that cute little dog paw cute ! That is another piece from Color Cast Designs. They come in a 4 pack and they are still available.  I think they are soooooo cute !

Let's move on the right side. That photo of Noah is of him making " weapons" for their home they made at the park.

This right side has kind of a dark side. I tried to balance it out as best I could but in the end I was happy with it. These photos are from our adventures at the park. We originally went to get some photos of Maddie for a project I needed them for. Afterwards the kids ended up playing along the river and built a house.  I am not sure why the colors are so off in these photos of my pages but oh well.

This photo is of a story that I have been meaning to tell for a while now. I have been thinking about what kind of things I want in my 2017 album. These types of things are exactly what I want to fill my album with. The story is small but meaningful. I stamped The Story onto some cardstock and added it onto the top of my journaling.

Here is the last part of my right side that I want to share. I created a filler card with that cute green tree and that work/play banner. The other card talks about some stories at the park. The card is from a Ali Edwards story kit and I thought it was great that it said the best part and the worst part.

Project Life Week 47 | Thanksgiving week

Welcome to Project Life Week 47. This week was part of the Thanksgiving holiday and we had family come stay with us. Let's just say we had a full house.

I had good intentions of documenting the holiday better than I have previously done. I think I did that and am so excited about it. I got some great photos, and now it is all in pockets thanks to Project Life.

Here is what the whole spread looks like.

Before I started creating this week I knew that I wanted some fun cards. Something that would help tell the story of the week.

I used a lot of journaling cards and digital brushes from the Gather collection by Sahlin Studio's. See the link below if your interested.

I created this title card by starting with this 4x6 card from Sahlin studios. I decided to change the color of the word gather to match more of my spread. Sometimes when I want to change a color of something I look for inspiration in my photos. I decided to take the orange from the pumpkin pie photo as inspiration. It worked out great. Photoshop is great for being able to play with your digital products. I use it every time I scrapbook.

As you can see I added the week # and the dates to the card before printing it here at home. After it was done I added the star strip from the Surprise Story Kit by Ali Edwards. It needed something else so I added the glitter star ( also from the story kit ) and a family sticker that I had in my stash.

The first journaling card there is from the Gather collection as well. I changed the color of the arrow to match the blue chipboard pieces from the surprise kit. Then I had a thought to add the word THIS to the bottom and those white letters worked out great. The card next to is from a SC kit. I added a few embellishments to it and called it done. The card with the circle silverware piece is also from the Gather collection. Isn't it cute. I changed the colors of the circles and added a word strip from the Story kit. I journaled about our Thanksgiving dinner.

When I started printing photos out to go in this week I thought that maybe the Surprise Story Kit might work along with what I had already planned. The colors worked real well. The blue chipboard pieces seemed to work with my photos and some of the cards as well. I added in this yellow chipboard piece as well. It brought out the yellow in the photo next to it.

I had a few extra photos that I wanted to include of us making our Thanksgiving meal. The top one is of the little kids helping Grandma roll out the rolls. The bottom is of grandma making the pie crusts. I added a digital brush from the Gather collection and finished it off with a sticker heart.

This is a photo of Maddie. The kids were playing tag out in the circle together. She thought it might be a good idea to ride the bike while wearing her rollerblades. I added the story onto the photo to save space for more stuff. Doing this whenever possible is a great space saver. I added a stamp from SC and called it done.

Let's move on to the right side now. Oh but first I want to point out the bottom photo. The kids decorated " Turkey " cupcakes in honor of Thanksgiving. I had them put them all together and I snapped a photo. So cute.

I wanted to keep with the yellow, orange, and blue theme I had going on on the right side.

I kept this card pretty simple. This one is from the Story kit and I loved the colors. I thought it matched really well with my photos. The wood veneers are from my stash, I love when I can use something. I added the #tradition hashtag from the digital Gather brushes and added my journaling on the bottom of it.

This yellow card is from a SC kit, I think the November kit. I loved the pop of yellow that it brought to the page. I added another glitter star and another chipboard word sentence. The photo next to it is of our Thanksgiving table.

The bottom photo might be favorite from the week. It turned out great of my husband putting the turkey in the oven with his gloves.

This first quote card is from the Gather collection and I loved the subtle grey that it had. I added a little story about having 12 people in the house. Next to is a card from the Story kit. I added a few embellishments from the Story kit to the right side of the card. I have to say that I am going to love using more of those tiny banner stickers. So fun. And all those word strips, love. And don't get me started on the chipboard. Lol.

I added some white letters around the PIE dish and added a sticker as well. The sticker says get your pumpkin on, seemed fitting. That one is from Simple Stories.

I am pretty sure Ali Edwards took a photo, or takes photos like this. I got the idea from her so when I saw some of our shoes all piled together I snapped a photo. I found it funny that we seemed to mostly have all the same shoes. I added the wood piece from a SC kit and another white banner sticker.

Week 47 is done. Yes !!! It feels so good to have that one documented. Now it's time for some December Daily lovin'. Stay tuned for another blog post coming very very soon. How is everyone's Project Life albums coming along ?

Project Life Week 40 | Drive Story Kit

Hello there !

I am back with you today sharing week 40. This week was the first week in October. I went ahead and used some of my Drive Story kit from Ali Edwards. I have more plans to use up my Drive kit later for some summer kits. So let's get started shall we.

The colors in this kit went really well with this weeks photos. I do try and match up my cards and embellishments up with my photos. I love it when they both coordinate ! Here is a look of the left side.

This title card was what sold me on using the Drive kit. The colors matched perfectly with my photos and I loved the card. I added the rubber banner and a half a circle with the star.

It just so happened that this week I had taken photos that went along with the Drive theme. One morning we woke up and went to get cereal for breakfast. Come to find out even though I had gone to the store the night before I had forgotten the milk. Mom Fail ! So off we went through the McDonald's Drive thru for breakfast. I used the " Drive " brush from the digital brush set and added some small white letters on the bottom to spell out Thru.

The first journaling card talks about how I am always driving to the school. I used one of those fun journal prompt rectangle pieces on the journaling card.

Here is a closer look at some of the left side. I snapped a photo of my scrap desk that week and I added a small 2x2 photo onto a journaling card.

I struggled with this card for seemed like forever. It was the last one to be done and it just wasn't coming together. At first I had other cards in this spot and then I spotted this older Story kit card it was perfect. I added a few embellishments and called it done.

This photo has a funny story. I added my journaling onto the photo to save space.

Let's move on the right side now. I made sure I carried over the color scheme to this side as well.

I didn't end up taking a photo of this top left photo for some reason. But I wanted to talk about it. I used the triangle from the digital stamp set and the word details. I changed the color of the Details word using one of the digital cards. I picked a color that I thought that would match the rest of my page well. I chose the color from the journaling card and changed the color of the word. I use this technique all the time to keep all the colors the same.

The photo on the right is a photo of one of the many carrot fields that I drive by almost daily. I love how there is a oil pump jack in the background.

Here is a close up look at these fun journaling/filler cards. I added some embellishments onto a piece of 3x4 transparency so that it created a see through element.

Here is a look at the bottom left side. We went to Home Depot that week to pick up a few flowers and bushes for the yard and my flower pot. And of course we brought home a few pumpkins.

I loved this journaling card. I took this opportunity to write about the agriculture fields that surround us where we live. I added a few embellishments to this card and I love how it turned out.

Week 40 is now complete and in the books. I have to say how I am loving these Story kits and how they have made my story telling and photography grow. I am telling more meaningful/deeper stories and they also inspire me to take some photos as well. If you want to check them out go to Ali Edwards shop for more information.
