a week in the life

 Have you ever thought about what a week in your life looks like. The daily routine, maybe a weekly ritual, a weekend hangout, and/or the little details about your everyday life. Many of you may be already familiar with the event/documentary project that is done by Ali Edwards. Many of you may have taken on the challenge yourself, or maybe attempted it. I have done it twice and both books are very different and dear to my heart. For those of you who don't know, a little background. It is a project/scrapbook about each day, each hour, of your day. It's having your camera around you at all times to capture the every day moments. It's journaling hour by hour of your day. It's all about capturing the otherwise forgotten part of your day. The funny things that your kids say, the bedtime rituals, the weekend events. The ups and downs of your day.  The end result is a book that is unforgettable, and will forever be cherished.

Since I am leaving for Utah tomorrow I am not going to participate next week but in two weeks when I am back and can capture what a normal week is for us. And I can't wait !! I love this project, it is a lot of work. It also takes time to jot down everything about your day, but it is worth it and I can't wait to share it with you as well. I looked through some of the pages from last years book and loved reliving those moments.  Each day I started with a cover page with a big picture on it. The page next to it had the journaling from that day. The middle pages were filled with extra pictures from throughout the day. Here are two of my collage picture pages from last year :

I am so glad that I have this book to look back on and to remember the everyday happenings for which otherwise would have been forgotten.

Week at Grandmas Round #2

Last week I loaded up the car, the kids, and headed up to Grandma and Grandpas house again. Am I crazy, yes. A little homesick, maybe.

Anyways, we had a great trip, had lots of fun, made more memories, and had lots more adventures with Grandma and Grandpa.

I thought that I would share some of the things that we did with you all.


The first thing that we did was visit Wheeler Farm with Grandpa. My dad used to take me and my brother there when we were little to see all the animals on the farm. It was so fun to go with him. He loved to see the kids excitement when they went chasing after the geese, or see the geese chase after the kids!

Probably my favorite part or thing about this trip was how Noah and his Grandpa bonded. It started at Wheeler farm when he came and sat down next to him on the wagon and then how he wanted to hold "PAPA's hand all the way back to car. Noah really took to his Grandpa that day and it just warms my heart to see that finally happen. It continued throughout the whole trip and I am sure it will continue when we go back next time.

The next adventure that we went on was to take the kids to Hogle Zoo. They were having a Dinosaur exhibit there at the zoo, including huge, talking, roaring, spitting, and moving dinosaurs. They were surrounded all around the zoo and being the dinosaur fanatic my daughter Katelyn is, she was in heaven. She was so excited when she came upon a new dinosaur.

It was a great day, the weather was great, the animals and dinosaurs were all awesome. Yes, the giraffe had his tongue up his nose, and Noah was not a fan of the dinosaurs. He would cover his ears and not want to get near them !! Although from afar he would point and say "ROAR".

It was a great trip and now Grandma is here with us. Yeah !! We have been loving having her here for a visit and will be leaving Monday to take her back home and to go to our family reunion.

Project Life Week 14

Slowly but surely I have been working through my PL album, getting the weeks done. I have Week 14 done and ready to show you. This week was definitely a challenge for me, with the house drama, the packing, trying to find a place to live, and planning a move to another state.  So I wanted to make sure that I got everything written down that happened during the course of the week. Also I had very little photos from the week, because of the busyness of it all. But I made do and am happy with the outcome.

So here is the first page :

The first picture I have is this one below of Katelyn's dinosaurs. We started sorting through the kids toys and donating some of the ones less played with. So the girls set up some of their dinosaurs up on the window seal and said that they were "ON PARADE".

We had a lot of UPS and DOWNS with the house situation this week, it seemed to change by the minute. I used all the journaling cards on this first side to tell the different events that happened and in the end it turned out great.

I used a card made by My Mind's Eye. I got a whole pack of them at one the last Scrapbook expo's in hopes of using them in my Project Life album and they have worked out great. They are just about the right size, a tad bigger than the journaling cards but I just trimmed the top and the bottom to fit unto the journaling card pocket. I used my printer to print on the card and there you have it.

I wanted to include something about us moving or going to California so I made this card. I spray misted over a mask onto cardstock and then cut the cardstock to fit into the pocket. Then embellished over it and added my lettering.

Included one this page is a picture of the girls trying to help me pack. As you can see they found it much more enjoyable to play in the boxes than to fill them.

A big and little picture of Noah and his cousin Devin playing trains together. They both were so excited to have someone to play "BOY" toys together. You see they both have only sister siblings.

Cousins Breanna and Devin came over for a final visit before we move next week and we were so happy that they did. We will miss them when we move.

I took about 30 pictures of them that day and this was the best one. It is so hard to get 5 little kids to sit quietly on the couch and smile. Four out of five ain't bad !!

That concludes Week 14. Is anyone else going to enter Becky Higgins contest ? I keep going back and forth. But if I can find the time these next two weeks, with traveling and all., then I will do next weeks pages for the contest. I am looking forward to seeing other peoples work when she announces the winners.

I just want to finish with the fact that I LOVE this project and am so thankful for it. At times it seems like a job, and others it is so much fun. I can't wait to do more pages, so many fun things coming up to record.
