Weekend Getaway

This has been long overdo, the post and the vacation. We left for St. George on Friday (March 13) night and got there late. Saturday was jam packed with fun. We first met Grandma and Grandpa Niebuhr for some miniature golf and so other fun. The girls were not really interested in golfing, oh well. I didn't know that Paul was such a good golfer !! He was the winner !! Katelyn and Maddie got to ride the cars around the track and they loved that. We next went to get some lunch and then off to Snow Canyon for some hiking on the big rocks. The sand dunes were next and lots and lots of sand. Patrick buried the girls up to their waists and they thought that was so funny. The sand got everywhere and is still in the car !! It was time for dinner and being that it was PIE day Patrick insisted on having pizza to honor pie day. ( In case you are not one of those geniuses, or just a geek, pie is 3.14 s

since it was march 14 it was pie day). Oh, I forgot about going swimming. The hotel had a indoor pool and we had a great time in the pool. We had to drag the girls out making a scene, it was not pretty.

Sunday was pretty low key. We went to the park for a picnic lunch and some play on the swings, slides ect. Paul and Tona had 11 o'clock church so we met them over at their apartment for root beer floats. Thanks again Paul and Tona they were great. It was great to see them and visit with them. The girls loved it seeing papa and grandma ! It was time to head home and so off we went. It was very peaceful. Maddie slept for three hours and Katelyn slept for two hours. It was a great trip and well needed.

Maddie turns 2 !!

My sweet baby girl is two years old !! Oh my ! Here are some things that Maddie is into.

She loves her baby dolls. There is always one not far away from her.

She is obsessed with Dora. That is the first thing that she wants in the morning. "Dora mommy, dora show". She gets so excited to see anything with Dora on it.

One of her favorite things are her black shiny shoes, she calls them her "tap, taps." She has to have them on first thing in the morning and then pretty much all day long. As I type she has them on her feet.

She loves to laugh. She is so cute, she has everyone laughing all day. One of her favorites is to run, run, run. She thinks it is hilarious.

Maddie hates clothes, of any kind. So most of the time she runs around with nothing but a diaper on, and she doesn't like them either. Although she does keep her pull-ups on thank goodness. Right now, as I type nothing but a diaper and her tap, taps.

She loves to play. Her favorites right now and her "peoples". Which are the little einstein characters, and of course they have to go in rocket. She also loves to play with sisters dollhouse and the family that goes with it.

Backpacks !! She loves them.

She loves her family, all of them. Especially mommy still. I just love it!! Also she adores Katelyn, which she calls SISSY. She is not far from either one of us at all times.

Happy birthday Maddie, I am so happy to share so much time with you, watching you learn and grow. You are so sweet, keep on growing. Love you babe !!

Katelyn's Birthday Party

I am a little bit late on this post but here you go. We had a birthday party for Katelyn last Saturday. It was at her favorite place, Jungle gym's. They have rides for little kids, pizza, and games. She loved it and loved playing and celebrating with all those who came. We let the kids ride the rides, then had pizza, cake and then opened presents. She had a great time. Happy birthday sweetheart.

Rascall Flatts Concert

I first want to start off and thank my wonderful husband for talking me into going. Second off thank my wonderful mother for really making it all possible, watching and putting the girls to bed. Now you have to realize that Rascal Flatts is my favorite band and I love concerts so I really didn't want to miss this concert. So to start off, several things came up the original day that the tickets went on sale and so I did not buy them then and went back and forth about getting some until yesterday. Do I really want to spend all this money and then end up sitting clear at the top? Well last night I am cooking dinner and got a text from Patrick. Said he found some 40 dollar tickets and the guy would take lower offers (this was almost 7 o'clock). I talked to my mom and decided to call the guy about the tickets. He had two left and so off we go. Dropped the kids off, picked up the tickets and went to go into the arena. The ticket guy scanned my tickets and said that there was an error and that I needed to go down to the ticket office. I run down to get our tickets and then met Patrick to let him in. He got a hot dog and I wanted to go to our seats so that I would not miss them coming out. I look at the tickets and it says portal U - I look at the portals upstairs and there was no U - infact they were all double letters. I check the section and it says 18. I am thinking, oh my gosh they are downstairs! This is unreal. So I go down to get Patrick and go to our new seats. Then I spot the row, it says 3 !! Yes three !! I am thinking - this is great! We give our tickets to the usher and he says that we have to go down a portal and then all the way to the floor !! I was thinking he was joking at that point, so we head down the stairs and down onto the floor. Now the main stage is a portal away from our new seats and then they have a walk around stage that goes all around the floor. So we are basically 10 feet from the stage !! I just couldn't believe our luck. I paid 35 dollars each for Patrick and I's tickets and look where we are. We were so, so lucky. The concert was amazing !! All the band members came around to us and were so close. And yes, Patrick did come with me willingly. I did not have to drag him there !! He also had a great time, was yelling, clapping, and singing right along with me. (aren't I lucky). One of the band members threw out a few guitar picks into
the audience and Patrick almost caught it, in the end he found it for me !! A little sovenier to take home. At one point a whole bunch of ballons, some small and some large. They were fun to pass around the audience. All in all, I had an amazing time, and feel so blessed to have such great luck. Also to spend the evening with Patrick, just the two of us. Sorry it was so long.

Jury Duty

So, for the last three days I have fulfilling my "Civic" duty as a Juror. In the building in the picture. (The State Court House)It was not my idea by any means. I got called in as a possible juror and by process of elimination I was one of the lucky 8 that were left over to serve on the jury. At first it was a tiny bit exciting, to be in the court room, with the judge and the lawyers just like on t.v. !! As the days went on, it was less exciting. I had to pay close attention to the testimony and at the end of the each day I was drained. It was a criminal case in which we could send someone to prison !! Basically, this was someones life we were talking about. Jail time is serious business and nothing I would want for anyone, on the other hand If some has committed a crime, it is to say that they should be held accountable. In the end, we found the Lady guilty of her crimes. So I ask myself - what did you do today ? I sent someone to Prison !! Kind of creepy huh. All in all, I hope to not have to do that again.

My two girls

So here are some more pictures of the girls. I know I went a little bit crazy on all the pictures but hey I can't help it !! I wanted to share all of them. The first one is of Maddie's " Tap Taps" - These are her all time favorite shoes and she has to have them on at all times. They are both getting so big !!

Katelyn turns 4 !!

I can't believe that Katelyn is 4 years old! When did that happen? Her birthday was this past Sunday so it was very low key. Church followed by playing with mommy(we played her favorite games, hide and go seek, duck duck goose, and london bridges falling down). Patrick had to work that day but was home about 5 o'clock. I made Chicken Enchiladas for dinner with homemade sauce. Grandma and Grandpa Merrell came over for dinner and they brought a chocolate cherry cake for Katelyn. She loved to blow out the candles, we had to do them twice !! She opened two gifts, one was penguin pajamas from Grandma and Grandpa and then we got her a Handy Manny fix it tool playset. If you didn't know Katelyn loves her tools and fixing things. She has not stopped playing with it. We will be having a party this Saturday at ther favorite place - Jungle Gym's. Stay tuned for that and I am getting my pictures back of the girls today so I will post some more of those.
