The not so happiest place on earth

The plan was to go down to Disneyland for the afternoon and evening because it was a short day at school for Katelyn. She got out at 12:35 and we headed down south. On the drive down the car started to make some strange noises. As soon as we pulled into the parking stall at the Disneyland parking garage the car started leaking, almost gushing fluid. Oh great. So we talked to the workers there and they call Triple AAA to tow the car away. Patrick found a Pep Boys a few miles down the road and waited for Triple AAA to show up and take the car there. Meanwhile, I took the three kids into Disneyland. It started out ok, they behaved for a little while. We went on the tea cups, the girls went through Sleeping Beauty's Castle, while I am on the phone with Patrick, my brother(who lives in the area), my mother, ect. Trying to find out what is happening with the car and how we
were going to get home tonight. At this point I am about in tears, and it was supposed to be a happy day !! The park closed at 6 that night and the kids were hungry. We walked over to the McDonalds, where I am trying to talk to everyone, and feed the kids at the same time. The car needs a new water pump, $750.00. Oh great. And it takes about 4 hours to replace, so we are stuck here for the night. We get a hotel room. No pajamas, no nothing. Patrick had to walk over to Target to get a phone charger because both of our phones were just about dead. Settle in, get the kids to bed and pick it back up in the morning. So morning comes, We head over to Disneyland in the morning while the car is getting fixed. We did have a good time. Finally. Car got fixed and we made it home safely. But now the car is making another noise, it either needs a new air conditioner compressor or a new pully. Not sure yet, haven't taken it in.  It is time to get a new car. But anyways, enough about our car troubles. I wanted to write this story down so that I could remember it. And my blog is a great way to get it done. Here are a few picks from our Disneyland adventure.

We just happened to be right there when Ariel walked past and then stopped to take pictures with people. Maddie was so excited, she is going to be Ariel for Halloween and even told Ariel that she has a dress just like her. Ariel replied with "Do you like to dress like a mermaid ?" Maddie aswered yes she did.

I think this was Noah's favorite thing this trip. Autopia. He got to steer.

Noah is not a fan of the "LOUD" rides. He covers his ears the whole time.

So all in all it was not what we expected. But we still managed to have a good time.

P.S. Should be finished with another week of my PL and then I can share it soon. Have two truck or treats this weekend and the kids are so excited !! Have a Halloween weekend everyone.

Lisa Falls Layout

Every once in a while I get the itch to pull out my "traditional" scrapbooking supplies and make a layout. Not my project life stuff. But the pretty papers, stickers, rub-ons, ect. So that is exactly what I did. I made a layout.

I was working on a project life week and had some pictures from a hike we took to Lisa Falls with my mom and dad back when we went to visit. I thought that they would be fun to use on a layout. I had some left over supplies from my favorite company, Little Yellow Bicycle, and so I pulled it all out and started playing with papers and pictures. It has been a while since I have made an actual layout and it took a while to get going. I was so used to a space of 3x4 to work with !! It's not quite what I had in mind but it will do and it was fun to do something different for a change. So here is the layout.

Most of the supplies are from Little Yellow Bicylce. Including this butterfly in the picture below. I love these so much, love the depth that they give to the page.

I didn't have much leftover space for journaling so I used the cute little cards from Little Yellow Bicycle that match the line of papers, stickers, ect. I printing my journaling on them and just tucked them under my photo. It's a good way to tell a longer story without taking up space on your page.

Noah was a little bit afraid of the water falls. They were very loud and so he kept covering his ears and saying "Loud".

I plan to do one more layout to go on the other side of this one to include in my project life album. I will share that one later when I get it done.

P.S. Working on my next project life week. Also planning a post about our recent Disneyland trip. Planned to go for an afternoon ended up staying for two days. Bad luck !! I will explain later.

P.P.S. So super excited about the new Becky Higgins stuff coming in soon. Has everyone picked out which edition they are going to pick for next year yet? I'[m going with Clementine. Also going to pick up some different page protectors. Can't wait. I need some for this years book.

Project Life week 24

This was Noah's birthday week. It was a really fun week to do and I enjoyed looking back over the photos of his birthday party. He turned two the week before and so we celebrated this week with my brother, who drove up from Long  Beach. Thanks again Rob for coming and helping us celebrate !!

So here is the first page :

The first picture is of Maddie sitting at the dinner table refusing to try her dinner. We had set a rule up for her that she has to atleast try a bite of her dinner before leaving the table. This night she sat at the table until it was time for bed. We put her to bed and then in the morning we put her back at the table to try her dinner. Let's just say she hasn't done that again !! Here are the journaling cards :

The first one is some journaling about Maddie and her night spent at the kitchen table. I like to use the foldable journalers for long story's that I would like to include, without putting it on its own separate page and printing out. I just decided to hand write this one instead of spending the time to print on it, because that takes time.

Our shed arrived today. We are so happy !! Now we can empty out the garage and put the cars into the garage.

This one is a quote or rather a conversation overheard at the splash park. Maddie and Katelyn were pretending that they were pirates from the show Jake and the neverland pirates.

This is my first attempt to make Noah's birthday cake. I always make the kids cakes and so I wanted to try to make a Thomas the train cake for Noah. He loves Trains. But it didn't survive the night and fell over ! So sad it was. The journaling space is from Pattie Knox, fanciful felt labels found at designer digitals.

This is a journaling card that I used a journaling card space from here again. Love her stuff. I am going to be using alot of it in the future.

I love to get images from websites and use them on my journaling cards. I wanted to find something Thomas the Train and I just saved the image from the Thomas the train website to my computer and then inserted it onto my journaling card. The title is just a font, i found one that looked the closest to the original Thomas title and. The journaling talks about trying to make Noah's cake. Turned out so cute.

That is the end of week 24. Now I am off to do my Monday chores !!

Project Life Week 23

So in between all the chaos that is Everyday Life I managed to find little bits of time here and there to finish another week of my album. One night I sat down and stayed up past eleven (and that is really staying up late for me) working on my album. When I went to bed that night I felt calm and at peace. I really did need my little piece of sanity at that moment, and I so thankful for this wonderful hobby that I love so dearly.  It keeps me from going crazy and it is relatively cheap !! So here is a look at the first page.

Here is the first picture of Noah at the doctors. His foot got infected and they had to clean it out and then put
a dressing over it that I had to change once a day for a week. Not fun.

I finally got my little garden planted. I ended up buying a grow box and some soil.

Here is what my garden looks like now. Can't wait to watch it grow over the summer.

Here is a look at the journaling cards

On this journaling card I wanted to include what I had planted. I had saved the plant stick from some marigold plant that I had planted earlier and stapled it on the card. I thought I had saved one from the vegetables but it has disappeared. It would have looked better on the card but oh well.

This week we had taken a trip out to the Halliburton offices for a family BBQ and a look around. They invited all the families to come out and to take a look at the big trucks and equipment that the men work on. It was really interesting to see all the big trucks up close and to go inside some of them. Here is the first page that I included in my book. It is a 8.5 X11. I did a huge typo on the bottom of the journaling and so I fixed it by adding the white and orange strip to the bottom of the picture and re printed it. Lesson learned : always look over your document before you print it or save it in photoshop !!


P.S. Patrick and the kids are standing in front of the coil tubing truck that Patrick works on. I should say he engineers it !!

Katelyn and Maddie both had a fever and a sore throat this week. Took them and they both had strep.

Noah got two sets of pretend tools for his birthday and he has not put down his drill since. It moves and makes noise. He loves to play with his tools just like daddy.

Patrick's homework so to say. He's in training for his new job and with that comes a lot of studying.

We all enjoy calls from Grandma. The kids love to talk to her and catch her up on the coming and goings here in California.
