Easter festivities

Our Easter weekend started out bright and early Saturday morning at the neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt that we have been going to ever since Katelyn was born. It was a little different this year with the white snow covering the ground, making the egg hunt a little bit easier. You could definitely see where the eggs were. Maddie had a little trouble picking up the eggs with her gloves on. Katelyn loved to see how fast she could run and how many eggs she could get. Noah was not impressed and just wanted to eat the eggs. It was still fun and all the kids had fun despite the cold.

Sunday morning was wonderful. The night before Patrick had set out an egg path that lead from each of the girls rooms upstairs. They thought that was the best. We each took turns looking for our Easter baskets. Katelyn kept saying " That Easter Bunny sure is tricky".

The night before I had put some creme brulee french toast and after finding our baskets we had a wonderful,delicious breakfast of baked french toast with strawberries.

After breakfast we set the girls loose to find the hidden eggs. It was so funny to watch the girls run around as fast as they could looking for hidden eggs. I had bought some dinosaur eggs(they had cracks on the eggs and then little dinosaurs inside). They were a big hit and are now part of Katelyns collection of dinosaur paraphernalia.

And of course there was Conference mixed in. Loved Conference especially the talk about Mothers and Daughters.

I quickly put together this years Easter layout. The first side is all digital and then the other side is a large picture of Noah that I put some digital elements on it and printed it out. I then put the paper piece together and then stapled it on the big photo. It was fun.

Been scrappin'

As I am sure all of you know I love to scrapbook. It is my passion. So I thought some of you might like to see some of my recent pages. I am so proud of them. The first one is of Noah at four months old. The next one is of us bringing Noah home. The one after that is his blessing day. As you might have guessed I am working on his book trying to get caught up. Stay tuned for this years Easter pics and a layout. Take care and thanks for looking.

Maddie turns 3

As many of you know Maddie is obsessed with Sleeping Beauty. She dresses like her everyday and plays - touch the spindle and fall asleep everyday - I have to be the prince and come kiss her to wake her up !! So
we planned a Sleeping beauty party for her, it was a small, very fun party.

The cakes :

I had originally planned on only making the castle cake for Maddie's birthday, but after talking to her about it she insisted on an actual Sleeping Beauty cake. The castle was just not going to do. Well I endedup making them both. The castle one I put Maddie's little sleeping beauty doll on the top and loved how it turned out. So a couple days before her party we went to DI and bought a barbie. I baked the dress part with a cake mix and then stuck barbie right inside the cake. A little frosting and decorations and she was done. I thought it turned out so cute. I made the cakes while the girls were at church and Noah was asleep (he was not feeling well at the time). Maddie came home and found the two cakes sitting on the table and the look on her face was priceless. She was so excited. She was so excited that she sat (with her sleeping beauty dress on) right by the table the whole afternoon until the party. Just smiling and as happy as a three year old could be. It was worth the three hours it took me to make and decorate those two cakes.

The party was so fun. We first let them decorate a crown and a wand. (Each of the little girls wearing a different princess dress). We then played a game. I had made a spinning wheel and I can't believe I didn't get a good picture of it. But the girls each took a turn touching the spindle and then falling asleep. I then handed them a rose to hold just like in the movie. I also had looked up the movie music on my laptop and had Patrick play it, especially the part where the bad witch tells Aurora to touch the spindle. Patrick was such a good sport about being Prince Phillip. I bought him a Kings hat and had a make shift cape for him to wear. He went around to each of the girls and woke them up with a kiss. The girls loved it.
They played it a few times before it was time for presents and dinner. We had pizza, jello and princess punch for our feast. Then it was time for the cake. We sang and Maddie blew out her candles. It was a birthday I will never forget and Maddie still talks about her sleeping beauty cake !!

Some of you know that I am doing Becky Higgins book again. Last year it was Project 365 and this year it is Project Life. In this special Scrapbook I am recording the average everyday happenings of our lives. I have posted some pictures of the pages of my book the Becky's Website so that you can see them if you want. I will probably continue to add to it as I go on. ( I don't have them all uploaded yet). So take a peak. The link is above. Hoping to post about Maddie's birthday soon.

I am finally getting around to posting about Katelyn's birthday party. She wanted a dinosaur party and I spent a lot time getting ideas and things ready for it. It turned out great and a lot of fun. One of Katelyn's friend, Christian, came dressed in his dinosaur costume and Katelyn immediately went down and got hers on. I had set up some of Katelyn's dinosaur play things and the two of them played dinosaurs for a while. The games came next. The kids were
told that there were eggs that needed
to be returned to the nest before the mommy dinosaur found them missing. The catch was that they had to transfer them in their spoon. The kids loved it and wanted to do it over and over. The next game was pin the dinosaur in the right spot on the poster(got at the party store). Another hit. The next game was the paleontologist dig site. I had filled two rubbermaid containers with dirt and buried some toy dinosaurs, play money, and then some real bones (Chicken bones) Thanks Patrick for taking care of the bones for the kids. I have to say that it was great to see the kids having so much fun and getting so excited when they would uncover something. I found the kids hats at Michael's and made them name tags that said junior paleontologist. They turned out super cute. I also gave the kids a fossil digging kit that included a tiny shovel, a paint brush, and a magnifying glass. I think they could have played in the sand all day !! But it was time for the cake. I originally was only going to make cupcakes for everyone to enjoy but I was adventurous and attempted to make a dinosaur cake. Katelyn had no idea I had made her a dinosaur cake and to see her excitement made all the hard work worth it. She was so excited about her cake. But back to the cupcakes. I have to say Thank you to Grandma Niebuhr for finding the dinosaurs for the top of the cupcakes and then mailing them to me from St. George. Thank you so much, they turned out perfect. And also a big Thank you to Grandma Merrell for baking and frosting them. They were so so good. Oh I forgot about the gifts, we opened gifts before we had cake. She received so many wonderful gifts, and I think they were all dinosaur related. Thank you to everyone. One of her favorites was the dinosaur house. She was so super excited to get it. ( She had wanted it for a while now). All in all it was a wonderful day and wonderful party. I know we all will remember it for years to come.

P.S. After the party Patrick, Noah, and I went down to the Insta Care. Turned out I had a Sinus Infection and Noah had another ear infection. We are all well now though. It was so hard to get things done for the party because I was so sick and my whole left side of my face hurt. Sorry, I will stop complaining. Stay tuned for Maddies's birthday party in a few weeks. Can you guess what she wants for her party? It includes a lot of pink.

Digital Scrapbooking

I have been following the well known scrapbooker Ali Edwards for years now and about a month ago she posted on her blog a weeks worth of info and this free digital template. So I jumped at the chance to try it out. I had taken these shots of the girls coloring and thought that they would be fun to put into this template. I have to admit it was fun and something different. I could have added more to this layout but I don't have any digital embellishments. So I printed it out in 12X12 on my new printer and it turned out great. Thought I would share.
