Week 21

Hi everyone ! I am so happy to be with you on the blog today. I thought it was about time I shared some good old weekly PL. This one is an oldie but a goodie. It turned out fabulous, and is one of my faves. Let's take a look shall we.

I used the September Studio Calico kit for most of this spread. I also followed along with a sketch from the documented workshop. Using the sketch was so fun. The sketch allowed me to follow a light guide but I was able to make it my own.

There was a lot of blues in my photos this week so I used a lot of blues in my journaling cards and embellishments. I also used a bit of red here and there. I added the strip of red washi tape onto the
title card to tie in the bit of red in the pizza.

As I was looking through my journaling cards for this one I came across a card that had the block heart shape. I loved all the colors in it so I decided to cut out the heart and place it on my journaling card. Below the heart I wrote the story about how pizza days came about in our house. The photo next to it is off the kids swimming at the gym pool.

Here are a few close ups.

One of my favorite cards from the Studio Calico kit was this " Love This Place " card. I added the word POOL on the top and love how it turned out. We seemed to always be swimming this week.

Pizza days are awesome. They go something like this. When the day is not going so well, I officially throw in the town and call it a pizza day. I will text Patrick that it is a pizza day and to pick up pizza on his way home. I will call in the order and we have pizza for dinner.

Here is a look at the right side. The bottom big photo is of the kids setting up the tent in the backyard. It was a three day weekend and so they wanted to sleep out in the tent.

A few photos and then a journaling card about sleeping outside. I loved that the card said : Notes from camp. It was perfect.

This journaling card is a newer one from Paislee Press. I added the dates under Saturday and Sunday in Photoshop. I also added in some journaling about the weekend. Including a great quote from Noah about me keeping his secret that he loves meatloaf.

Here is a look at the top of the right side. I cut up a journaling card - the yellow weekend part and added onto the photo of Noah in the pool.

A close up of the embellishments I added to the right side of the photo.

That is it for week 21. I love how simple yet fun this spread was to put together. I am looking forward to putting some more spreads together using sketches. If you are interested in learning more about the Documenter classes from Studio Calico you can check it out on their website. Each month you get some lessons, videos, and sketches using the monthly kits.

Thanks for coming everyone. Until next time.

Halloween Night 2015 | Color Cast Designs

Halloween is almost here again. My kids have been counting down the days for weeks, and weeks now. Noah asks every day, How many days until Halloween Mom ? It has been a good math opportunity for me to squeeze in every day. For instance today he asked and I said well 31 - 19 is what. The answer is how many days left to Halloween.

Okay enough subtraction problems, let's get on to the fun stuff.

I have a fun Halloween spread for you today. This is the first project that I have done for Color Cast Designs Design Team. I am so happy to be with them and use their products. Side note : Today is the Release Day for October. Wow, you guys. Don't miss this one. It is HUGE !! It includes Halloween, through Christmas and everything in between. Click here to go check out the shop.

The set that I used for these pages is called Wicked Awesome. It has both some wood pieces as well as some acrylic pieces. I am so in love with these cute little ghosts and pumpkins that are in the set.

I adore these cute journaling cards from Amber LaBau. You can find her stuff over at The Lily Pad shop. They were perfect for my Halloween photos from last year. I added one of the pumpkins from the set, aren't they sooo cute !

This spread came together rather quickly. I decided to keep it rather simple with lots of white throughout the whole thing.

This first journaling card is from Ali Edwards, maybe the Week In The Life kit.

There was no surprise when Katelyn decided to dress up as Harry Potter for Halloween. We were very lucky to find the robe at a local thrift store and bought the rest at the party store.

This ghost card is one that I made myself in photoshop. I used the ghost from Amber as well and then stamped BOO onto the card. Then I added the ghost from Color Cast Designs. I am in love with those darling little ghosts.

Halloween would not be complete without consuming at least a half a dozen Reese's Pumpkins.

This card started out with a journaling card from the Amber set. I added the two small 2x2 photos and added them together so I could add the cute wood tag. The tag is from the Color Cast set as well.

Noah makes a very convincing Darth Vader.

Let's move on to the right side.

I added this white acrylic piece from the set onto this great yellow card. Next to it I added a few more photos of Katelyn.

I added this big journaling card in because I had some stories to tell from that night. For instance, " Noah, you can't do that. You have a lightsaber, not a wand like me. It won't work. " The cute fox sticker if from the Hello Fall collection from Simple Stories. It was the perfect addition.

My cute little fox.

I haven't mentioned this yet. Before the kids went out trick or treating we took some photos of them in their costumes. Some of my favorites were of these two battling each other. I had a series of 3 photos that I wanted to use together. I added them all the way down the right side of this right page. I added the numbers to the photos to draw your eye to them and show them in order.

This second photo I cropped that it was smaller than 4x6. I had to cut it up to fit into the 3x4 pockets which turned out fine. I added the smaller side of the photo to this journaling card that I embellished.

Here is the last photo. I just love these.

Here is what they look like all together.

I am so happy to have these fun photos documented now and in my album. Thanks for coming everyone ! We are hosting a Halloween Party this weekend so I will check back in early next week most likely.

Jedi Training

Hi everybody ! I am back on the blog today with another catch up spread. This one has been done for a while now and thought that I would share it here. Here is what the whole thing looks like. As you can probably guess it is all about Katelyn and her Jedi Training at Disneyland. The other two kids did not want to participate. Yeah, they regret it now. Next time though.

When we went to Disneyland back in March Katelyn really wanted to participate in the Jedi Training program. So we headed to the sign up line first thing that day and I stood in line for an hour and a half to reserve her a spot.

I used a variety of supplies for this spread. Some of the cards from the Magic Story Kit from Ali Edwards, some stickers I had picked up over the summer, and some Star Wars stickers I found at Michael's way back.

I knew that I wanted to use this awesome sticker for the title card.  I kept it pretty simple and only added that yellow star.

Thankfully the color scheme came together easily. I chose to go with lots of browns, and that sort of pink/red color. Oh and orange here and there.

When it was her turn to go and suit up for training she did so rather quietly and cautiously that I would have though. It was all business. But I want to point out that there was definitely a smile on her face.  The brown filler card was from the Magic kit, along with those pull apart word strips.

The top photo is what all dreams are made of if you ask me. I loved that she was able to participate. Way to go Disney, way to go !! I added a Yoda quote to that darker brown card and added the sticker to the bottom.

One last picture to share for the left side of the spread. This one is a journaling card I believe is from Studio Calico. I added a word strip to the card to add some cohesiveness to the spread, I also added some of them to the right side. Plus they were perfect.

Okay, let's talk about the right side. The bottom photo is of all the Jedi's down going through their paces. Getting ready to battle the Dark Side. I added in a smaller photo of her battling Darth Vader to a journaling card and added a few embellishments. Can I just say that this little jedi girl is so adorable. I added her on to some white cardstock and left her as is.

I added in a smaller photo of her battling Darth Vader to a journaling card and added a few embellishments.

If I remember correctly that rad card is from the Magic kit as well. I added the letters SO and a few other stickers to the card.

I wanted to add in another photo here so I stuck it next to a journaling card.

This moment was both Magical and Legendary. Katelyn was so into her roll as a Jedi that she got lost in the moment. She had a blast battling the big Darth Vader and I loved seeing her do it.

That is a wrap on this fun Jedi Training spread. Thanks for coming. Have a fabulous weekend everybody ! Happy Scrapping.

Project Life Week 17

Happy Friday everyone !

I am here with you today sharing another week of Project Life. This was week 17 of 2016.

I used some cards from Studio Calico on this one. I knew I had to include pink as a color this week because of the sunset photo. I added some blue, gold, and yellow here and there as well.

The title card is from SC and I had a hard time trying to figure out how to add my week number and dates. The strip of patterned paper on the side was tricky to work around. This week I made chicken satays and they were a huge hit. I added my journaling onto that first journaling card there with the cluster at the bottom. On Monday night we went to the park to play some hoops. This week I added 3 photos in the middle. I typically like to spread them out but I think it works out ok.

We had to take Noah into the dr's. this week and I snapped a photo when he was looking at the tv. I added a digital brush from Ali Edwards and the heart wood veneer. For this spread I wanted to make sure I had some wood veneer spread out throughout the entire thing.

Here is a photo of the kids shooting hoops. I always love some white space in the photo to add in some embellishing as I did here. When taking photos try to take some with the subjects in the middle of the photo and take a few shots of them to the side so that it leaves some white space as I did here. Maybe it's just me but I am loving this approach.

Here are those chicken satays I talked about. Yummmm. The last journaling card on this side talks about how I watched a lot of netflix due to fevers and sickness. It actually happened a lot that week.

Let's talk about the right side now. I kept with the pink theme for that first journaling card. Recently I have been loving adding in some smaller photos like I did here with the kids playing the xbox. The photos were not the best so making them small was perfect. And they still get to be included in the album. I think for this one I used a Paislee Press template. Okay, who doesn't love heart eye emoji's ? Am I right ? I had been hoarding that card for a while now and was so excited to use it.

This sunset has probably got to be the best one so far. It was soooooo pretty. I added the wood veneer hashtag on the bottom.

Here is more of the right side. I need to add more " LIFE STUFF " into my albums. I saved a copy of Noah's practice spelling and sentence paper this week and cut it up to go into the pocket. I recently was given my grandmother's typewriter and was testing it out on that label there. I can't wait to get more acquainted with her typewriter, should be fun.

Emoji donuts anyone ? Yes please ! We picked up some donuts after sports games that Saturday morning.

Here is a closer shot of the emoji card and a little story about Noah's book nook for his room.

Thanks for coming to the blog everyone ! I am happy to say that I am almost done with the first half of my 2016 PL album. Can I get a  high 5 ?!!! I think I only have a few more Disney spreads to take care of and I am done with the first half of the year. Then we can talk about the second half. Sigh. Oh well, I am totally not stressing about it and moving forward. Making pages, taking photos, ect.

Have a great weekend everyone ! Next up I think will be another day in my Week In The Life album. I need to finish blogging and sharing that project.
