Off we go . . .

Just wanted to check in real quick (and give you a heads up) and let everyone know that we are taking the week off and escaping to Disneyland. The hubby has not had a official "Vacation" yet and so we decided a while ago that this would be the perfect week.  So we head off first thing in the morning !! I am so excited to visit the new Cars Land. We haven't been yet and the kids can't wait to go !!

Thank you all for being patient with me with my sporadic blog postings as of late. I will be back with a recap of our trip later next week. Also another PL week to share. So stay tuned.

P.S. Can you believe it's October already !! I mean, really ?!!!  Crazy how time seems to just fly by.

Project Life Week 21

Week 21 May 21-27.

THE FIRST PAGE : Disneyland

THE PICTURES :

I took the kids down to Disneyland for a little getaway/day off. Our annual passes were about to be blacked out for the summer so I wanted to take the kids before that happened. The girls Mickey ear hats were getting old, and Maddie's strap broke already. That meant new hats for both of them. Disney Princess hats was the final choice.

They had the new princess "Merida" there for a meet and greet. Afterwards they had this archery area that was set up for the kids and adults I guess. This is Katelyn shooting the bow and arrow. I don't know if she thought closing her eyes would give her an edge on hitting the target but it was hillarious. If you look closely you can see her eyes are closed very tightly.

Brush found here.

Met some of the Characters. Including the new princess. The girls could not believe that she was there. Total and wonderful surprise.

THE JOURNALING CARDS:

LEFT SIDE: Mickey rub-on.

RIGHT SIDE: Instagram shot of Katelyn trying so hard to open the pirate treasure chest. I put it on some of the new Jillibean Soup Chevron cardstock. The colors are way here, sorry, but they have some colors that match perfectly with the Clementine colors.

LEFT SIDE: Filler card from the Clementine core kit.

RIGHT SIDE: Placed my photo onto the journaling card. Used a banner sticker and then added letters.

THE SECOND PAGE : *** This photo did not turn out so well. It was getting darker when I took it. *** Sorry.

THE PHOTOS: Patrick's B-day.

Used numbers from Ali Edwards Outlined Days, Months, and Years.

The last day of preschool was at my house. Meaning summer is here.

Used the friday brush from here.

Maddie and her hands are almost wart free !! But this is our nightly routine of wrapping them up to hold in the ointment.

Used this brush from here.  The colors were all wrong so I turned it black and white. It is a little better.

This story came from our hike on Memorial day but I didn't include it in my layout that I made. So I wanted to talk about it in my PL album.

I made a new layer and put it on top of the photo. Reduced the opacity so that it looked see through.
Added the brush from here and added my journaling. Added the arrows from here

THE JOURNALING CARDS:

LEFT SIDE: I used this freebie from Simple Girl Scraps. Found here. I changed the color but left the inside of the letters the original color for a bit of pop. I had this quote from maddie that I needed a cute journaling card that this one was perfect. Added the heart and arrow.

RIGHT SIDE: The first journaling card of my Right Now journaling. I thought about doing a foldable journaling card and it would have worked. But I didn't really have anything else to add to the layout so I used two journaling cards to spread out my journaling.

LEFT SIDE: The second journaling card.

RIGHT SIDE: A week review card. The banner is from one of the new jillibean soup journaling cards. I just cut it off of the card. Washi tape is underneath of the banner. I found the LOVE badge in my stash and added butterflies around the badge.

CLOSE -UP: Here is what the two cards look like together. I needed something to tie the two journaling cards together and so I used the bright orange sticker and then added the banner on top. Used this brush from Ali Edwards.

Week 21 is done. I started looking at week 22 and found that I took a whole 2 photos from that week !! EEEK !! I decided to just skip it, no one is going to care, or even notice. I didn't even have any notes from that week.

Week 23 is in progress. Well, it was until last night when I ran out of ink. So I will do all the rest of the prep work while I wait for my amazon order to get here.  I hope it gets here soon !!

Who is playing along with me ? How is your album coming along ?

Have a great weekend everyone.

6 yrs Layout

I recently did this layout for a design team assignment. These photos were taken last summer and I wanted to get down some info about Katelyn at that age. It was really hard for me to remember some details even know. I have got to remember to write things down at the time. Mental note - write things down more often.

The paper and products are mostly from the new Lilybee designs. I loved the colors and thought that they would be a good fit with the photos.

I wanted to use both photos on the layout and didn't much room for journaling when everything came together. So I used one of the Lilybee design journaling cards for my journaling spot. On the top I added a brush from Ali Edwards . I also needed to include the year somewhere, so I added the number 2011 using October Afternoon letters. When all that was figured out I added my journaling and printed it straight on to the journaling card.

In the end I love how it turned out and am glad to have some of the tidbits that I could remember about my sweet baby girl.

Stay tuned tomorrow. I have another week of PL finished and photographed. I just need to edit the photos and write the post. Have a great weekend everyone.

One last thing. A shout out to my two football teams. Go UTES and go 49ers !!! I love football season.

Move More . . .

We have all heard it before. The phrase . . . Move More. It's good for you, they say. Well as of recently I have been trying to do just that.

I have always been active, ever since I was little. I was in dance class since age 3 or 4, took up riding horses at around age 12. Kept them both up until I went away to college when I was 20. In college I took a running class and kept that up for a while. Then I got married, had a gym membership for a long time. And then about the time kid #3 came around the only exercise I got was going up and down the stairs in our house.

So enter 2012 where some of my friends were talking about running a 5K that our church was running. So I joined them in their training efforts in April. We started off slow. And it was more like jog/walk for a while. And then I started running more frequently by myself. But then came the hot summer May/June months where it is so hot you can barely stay outside for even 5 minutes let alone go running.

July came around and we joined the gym. Best thing that could have happened. I started attending classes, going regularly, running on the treadmill. And I think the best part about it all was the child care. Yes, I could go and drop all of the kids off and have a free hour to myself. Although I was sweating, for that hour I was kid free !!

Anyways, I promise I am getting to the point. This past Saturday I ran my first "official " 5K !! I did it folks, and didn't do to bad if you ask me. It was fun. To have all those runners with you, to wear a number, and the best part was getting cheered on to the finish line by perfect strangers ( and your husband, thanks dear for being my cheerleader).

I don't neccesarily LOVE working out, but I have come to find out that it is not so bad. I feel better and I my pants are slowly fitting looser !! Yeah !! I can say that on the blog, right !! Oh and I love my Tuesday/Thursday Zumba classes. Remember when I mentioned I was a dancer. Well I love that I can dance, join in with others while working out, and get a GREAT workout, all at the same time.

I wanted to share a few photos of our Saturday morning adventures.

I am not in the least a fast runner. But I did try to run my fastest time to date and I did. I did it 34 minutes flat. And that to me is a record. There were 19 of us in my age group and I turned out to be 6th out of the 19. Not that matters, but I was proud of myself. Here is me and my number.

After the run the whole family had fun exploring the beautiful park and stream where the event was held. The kids had their swimsuits on and spent some time playing in the water.  I believe it was over 90 degrees already that day. It was 11:00 am.

Maddie collecting shells from the river.

Noah was to scared of the "GOO" (as Katelyn called it) that was in the bottom part of the river to go in. So he played on the rocks for a while.

Maddie finally found a clean part and coaxed him in and led him to good part of the stream.

Digging in the sand for "Treasures"

Here is the pile of "Treasures" that made their way home with us

Katelyn loved playing the "GOO" as she called it. She has always been the adventurous one, the one that will touch the bugs, and the gross stuff.

All in all it was a wonderful day that I will treasure. Later on that day we enjoyed our local football team from back home win over the in state rivals !! YEAH Go UTES !!

P.S. I am slowly working on my next PL week. I am about 3/4 of the way done. Hope to get it done soon. Have a great rest of the week if I don't catch up with you all.

Project Life Week 20

Another week in the books. And I am so thrilled to be spending some time on my PL album again. Yeah !!

Not a lot of photos to choose from this week so I decided to choose a few from two main events and added a few others into the mix. Turned out great. And it is always alright to mix and match photos in your week. Or even fill the week up with photos from one specific event. Anything goes with this project and that is what I love about it !!

HERE IS THE FIRST PAGE :

THE PICTURES :

The girls dug out a mud pit in the backyard. Used Ali Edwards new arrow brushes ( love these). You can find them HERE. On the arrow brush I changed the color of the top two to white just to add some flair. The word outside is from HERE. When I was purging my scrapbooking supplies this past week I found lots of stuff that I wanted to save and use. And the little chipboard accent was one of them. It is an oldy but it worked perfectly on this picture.

Pink letters are from Fancy Pants Beach Babe.

THE JOURNALING CARDS :

LEFT SIDE : Dirt letters from AC Thickers Cork. The orange tag is from October Afternoon.
RIGHT SIDE :  MY 2 MUD MONSTERS. Brush from HERE.

LEFT SIDE :  Patrick received his business cards this week. Arrow from Studio Calico. Letters from Basic Grey.

RIGHT SIDE : Found a pic from online of Diablo 3 and printed it. Orange letters are from my studio Calico kit. Heart from Studio Calico.

Patrick really is not a gamer. But wanted to get this game. So he purchased it the day it came out, staying up way to late trying to play it or download it (not sure which). I guess the host site or something crashed because of the mass of people trying to play it. Please forgive me on all the lingo, I don't know the first thing about all of that stuff.

THE SECOND PAGE :

THE PICTURES :

In bloom. Doilie from Martha Stewart. Butterfly and banner from October Afternoon Flower Packs. I love all the little tiny treasures that come in those packs.

Orange letters from Studio Calico. Freebie brush from  HERE.
Erased the top word off the brush and added the letters.

Used an overlay from Basic Grey. Added some journaling on the side.

Arrows from HERE.

THE JOURNALING CARDS :

LEFT SIDE : Used THIS cute freebie from Valerie Brown. Changed the colors and added the star. Great for week in reviews, trips, ect.

RIGHT SIDE : Picture of how dark it was the night of the Solar Eclipse.

LEFT SIDE :

Used this daily overlay. Really tried to find the link for these but was unable. I know I bought it from the Lily Pad. I resized it to make room for my journaling on the bottom. Also resized my instagram shot and printed it all out on a blank 3x4 journaling card. I then added the letters to spell out crop.
RIGHT SIDE : I took a clear vellum tag and punched a hole in the middle. Punched some Clementine Patterned paper and put it underneath.  Added my lettering and star. Stars are from Studio Calico.

That is it for Week 20. Moving right along. I hope to have another week finished up here in the next 2 days. I am going to be kid free tomorrow and friday morning so I am going to be camped out in my scrap room !! Yeah !! I will share when I get it done. Take care now.

Project Life Volume 2

I have finished the last page of Volume 1 of my 2012 PL album. I also finished the first page of my Volume 2 PL album.

I had some extra pictures from the kids on the swing set and I used them for the last page of my Volume 1 album.

And here is the first page of Volume 2 - sorry about the bad photos. Its been very cloudy here.

On this one I had a whole bunch of pictures from our favorite local park. So I used them on the front of Volume 2. I added the Volume 2 card and also the other journaling card about the park.

I really didn't want to do a full title page for my Volume 2 album. Because I had plenty of pictures to fill it up with.

I love the result and am working right along. Still working on my scrap space, almost done though. I can't wait to have everything organized and in its place.

Until next time.

Wordless Thursday ( Well . . . Almost)

We had rain yesterday. RAIN !!! THAT never, ever happens HERE !! Ok, maybe 4 times a year if we are lucky. So when it did rain yesterday it meant swimsuits, and as you see below leaf boat races down the street.

We spent an hour out in the middle of the street across from our house, in swimsuits (except for me of course) splashing, racing, and more splashing.  See below.

Took a few instagrams and thought I'd share them with you.  At this point the girls were not remotely interested in holding still for the camera !! So this was the best I got. (See above photo).

I've been super busy trying to rearrange, de clutter, organize, ect, my scrap space. I've still got a long way to go, I'm feeling very confident that I can get it together soon so that I can start scrappin' again. Everything was so disorganized, I was often frustrated because I couldn't find what I was looking for !! So hopefully this will help and I can get some PL work done soon. Until then, have a great weekend everyone.

P.S. Ok, it wasn't wordless, not even close !! Sorry.

Project Life Title Page 2012

I know what your thinking. It's September and your just getting around to doing your title page !!

Well, Yes. It's true.

I finally got around to getting my Title Page done. Reason being is that I was getting ready to move on to Volume 2 in my current PL album and needed to get Volume 1 all completed before moving all to Volume 2. So now it is all completely finished, nothing missing, no missing pictures, no missing journaling cards, and now, no missing title page.

Here is the very first page of my album. Cathy Zielske was kind enough to provide us with a cute little freebie page for our PL albums. So I joined the bandwagon and had to have one for myself.

You can find her blog post and the free download HERE.

I used the Clementine Cardstock and the added the 2012 to the bottom. (They are from Basic Gray.) Cathy Z has the digital version available for you but I wanted to go hybrid. I simply added our last name to the template and then cut it out and pasted to my cardstock. Also added the camera badge from my Studio Calico Kit.

Here is what I added to the other side. I printed out a picture of our family in 6x12. I wanted them all to be black and white pictures because we were wearing red and black outfits (would have clashed).

Here is a close up. I used a filler card and printed out one of Ali Edwards sayings from here. Added the heart and the brad.

Here is a look at the main title page.

The 2012 Memories Start Here card can be found as a freebie from Design Editor here.

Here is a closer look at the top left corner card.  I added a tag, the frame, and the number 5 to the left side. Added a arrow sticker from My Minds Eye new line, a blue doilie and the camera.

Here is a closer look at the bottom right card. I scraplifted this from Ali Edwards. I took her idea and made it my own with what I had on hand. I cut the top card up and added it to some Clementine Cardstock. Found a circle overlay that I had and added that to the top of the cardstock. Embellished it and called it good.

So now my Volume 1 of my PL album is now officially completed. Since I didn't want to split a week up between two books I found some extra pictures and filled them in for the back side of my last page of Volume 1. I want to finish the top page of the Volume 2 and then I will share them with you. Hope I didn't confuse anyone, if so I will explain and show you what I meant in my next post.

I hope you had a great Labor day. Ours was spent driving, driving, and more driving. Sadly we had to take my mom back to Utah over Labor day so we spent it driving there and a quick one day stay and then right back home. So now I have to go and clean my house.
